Outfielder Chris Young signed a one-year contract with the Angels and first baseman Chris Carter signed to a Minor League deal with a Major League Spring Training invitation on Sunday.
Carter's deal is for $1.75 million if he makes the Major League roster and includes $600,000 in incentives, according to MLB.com's Mark Feinsand.
Carter, 31, struggled with the Yankees last season, posting a .201/.284/.370 line with eight homers and 26 RBIs in 62 games before they released him in July. He finished the season in the Minors with the A's. But he's still only one year removed from hitting 41 home runs with the Brewers in 2016, which tied Colorado's Nolan Arenado for the National League lead.
Carter could help replace some of the depth the Angels lost on Saturday, when they dealt first baseman C.J. Cron to the Rays in exchange for a player to be named later.
Young batted .235 with 12 doubles, two triples, seven home runs and 25 RBIs in 90 games for the Red Sox last season.
