The Angels optioned pitchers José Suarez and Taylor Cole to Triple-A Salt Lake and recalled Jake Jewell and Luke Bard from Triple-A on Friday.
Suarez, Los Angeles' No. 4 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, pitched for the Angels on Thursday against the Blue Jays, allowing five runs in five innings. It was his fourth start of the season -- and of his career -- all of which came in June. The 21-year-old had a 3.91 ERA in Triple-A this season before making his MLB debut on June 2.
Cole has been called up from the Minors four separate times this season. In his most recent stint, after being called up on June 15, he made three relief appearances and allowed two runs.
Jewell and Bard have both already spent time with the big league club this season. Jewell, the Angels' No. 23 prospect, has a 8.59 ERA in five appearances, all in relief. Bard has appeared in 16 games -- including two starts -- and has a 4.22 ERA in 21 1/3 innings.
