Paul named Angels' next bench coach
ANAHEIM -- The Angels hired former Major League catcher Josh Paul as their bench coach on Tuesday.
Paul, 42, had served as the Yankees' Minor League catching coordinator for the past three seasons and has been credited with helping to develop New York catcher Gary Sánchez. He has also managed the Yankees' Class A affiliate and has worked as a scout within the organization.
Paul played for the White Sox, Cubs, Angels and Rays over his nine-year career in the Majors before retiring in 2008. He spent two seasons in Anaheim, where he was managed by Mike Scioscia.
Paul will take over for Dino Ebel, who moved to third-base coach to fill the vacancy left by Ron Roenicke. Roenicke left to become the Red Sox bench coach earlier this month.
