Trout gets his own Hollywood sign out in the desert hills
Move over Hollywood sign -- there's a "Trout" lookalike at Spring Training that just might rival the Los Angeles landmark.
Spotted on Tuesday well beyond the outfield fence at the Angels' spring home in Tempe, Ariz., and tucked into the hills, the large white letters spelling out Mike Trout's last name were pretty much impossible to miss. And the fan who presumably lugged them out there was standing right beside his handiwork while the Angels took on the Brewers.
An incredible photo captured Trout jogging off the field, framed in the background by the sign and its owner in miniature. The Angels superstar later posted it to his Instagram story with the caption: "Love it!"
The club's social media account has been trying to track down the fan, to no avail so far, but here's hoping they are eventually able to because we have some questions, including but not limited to: Did he carry each letter out there by himself? Will he be back for the Angels' next home Spring Training game? Might he have more of these on hand -- say a Moniak or a Schanuel?
Trout went 0-for-2 on the day and has yet to pick up his first knock this spring, but if you were looking for a sign that big things are still to come from the 32-year-old three-time MVP, well, what better one than this?
