Angels tidbits
• The Angels signed right-handed reliever Luke Bard on a Minor League deal. Bard pitched with the club last year after being selected from the Twins in the Rule 5 Draft, only to be returned to Minnesota in late April. He posted a 5.40 ERA with 13 strikeouts, five walks and four homers allowed in 11 2/3 innings last year while posting some of the highest spin rates in the Majors on his four-seam fastball.
• Angels position players report to camp on Sunday, which means they must arrive to take their physicals before full-squad workouts begin on Monday. Angels pitchers have been throwing bullpen sessions to get ready for live bullpens against hitters.
• Right-hander JC Ramírez, who is rehabbing from Tommy John surgery, said his bullpen session on Friday went well. He threw only fastballs at roughly 75 percent effort, and he said he'll continue to progress and incorporate his other pitches. Ramirez remains on track for a return in June, and he'll come back as a reliever or a starter based on need.
