Angels' 2020 season to begin in Oakland
ANAHEIM -- The Angels are scheduled to open the 2020 season in Oakland on July 24, marking the fourth straight year they’re opening the season on the road against the A’s. The Angels are set to become the first team in Major League history to start four straight seasons in the same road ballpark.
The 60-game schedule, which was released live on MLB Network on Monday, includes 40 games against American League West rivals and 20 games against National League West opponents. After four road games in Oakland, the club’s first home game is against the Mariners on Tuesday, July 28, at 6:40 p.m. PT. Notably, the Angels will host most of their home night games at 6:10 p.m. or 6:40 p.m.
• Here is the Angels’ 2020 regular season schedule
The Angels play each of their AL West foes 10 times each, including six home games against the Astros, three against the A's, seven against the Mariners and four versus the Rangers. They also play the rival Dodgers twice, hosting them for a three-game series from Aug. 14-16 and finishing the season at Dodger Stadium on Sept. 25-27.
Additionally, the Angels have three home games against the D-backs, three road games versus the Rockies, and then two home games and two road games against both the in-state Padres and Giants. The Angels will also play three exhibition games before the start of the regular season, on July 20 at San Diego's Petco Park, July 21 at Dodger Stadium and July 22 at Petco Park.
Manager Joe Maddon has maintained that a fast start is critical in a shortened season, and the Angels have 37 games in 39 days to open the year, including 18 straight games from Aug. 14-31. They also finish the season mostly against the NL West, as 11 of their final 15 games are Interleague games.
