Painting makes iconic Trout catch even cooler

It's the iconic defensive play of Mike Trout's brilliant career so far -- his leaping catch to rob J.J. Hardy of a home run while crashing into the center-field wall at Camden Yards on June 27, 2012. You've likely seen it several times, and for good reason -- it's a tremendous play, with Trout's entire left arm reaching over the fence as he collides with the wall and yet holds on to the baseball.

And now the magnificent moment has been depicted in a gorgeous painting by Graig Kreindler, who posted it to Twitter on Saturday.

If you're a baseball fan on Twitter, you've likely seen Kreindler's paintings before -- including his collection of portraits for the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum. It's hard to resist stopping your scroll when you catch a glimpse of his incredible artwork.

Of course, if you're painting the best baseball player of our generation, the bar is high. Kreindler not only meets it but exceeds it with the exquisite likeness of one of the most famous plays of the last decade.

As the saying goes: "Hang it in the Louvre."
