All-Star Case for Contreras, Adames, and Ortiz
With just over a month left till the MLB All-Star Game in Texas, it’s time to vote for your favorite Brewers once again.
The Crew should have plenty of representation at this year’s Midsummer Classic, including potential first-time All Stars and a sensational rookie.

William Contreras
We’ll start with the obvious: the best catcher in MLB deserves not only a roster spot, but the starting nod behind the plate at Globe Life Field.
After appearing in the 2022 All–Star Game, Contreras has taken his game to another level since arriving in Milwaukee, and he’s amidst the best stretch of his career in the first half of 2024.
Among qualified NL catchers, William Contreras leads the pack in a handful of major offensive categories, including batting average (.313), on-base percentage (.382) and RBI (44). Meanwhile, he’s second in fWAR (2.5) and tied atop the board in wRC+ (147).
Not to mention, he’s a true iron man. Contreras has started every single ballgame for the NL Central-leading Crew, bringing a force to the middle of the order every day.
Willy Adames
Looking for an All-Star choice at shortstop? The National League’s reigning player of the week is more than worthy of a selection.
Just like Contreras, Willy Adames started every single game for the first place Brewers, making a major impact with the glove and a power bat.
Adames leads all NL shortstops in RBI (42), while sitting top three in wRC+ and fWAR. As productive as he is with at the plate, Willy matches it with his glove. Adames’ six outs above average slots him in the 97th percentile for MLB shortstops, per Statcast.
A vote for Willy Adames is not just a vote for one of MLB’s most productive shortstops; it’s a vote for a man with clutch in his DNA. In the 7th inning or later, Adames slashed .329/.397/.586 with four homers and 20 RBI. That’s what All-Stars do.
Joey Ortiz
Despite lacking the number of at-bats needed to qualify for most major statistical categories, your NL leader in fWAR at third base isn’t Alec Bohm, Austin Riley or even Nolan Arenado.
