LOS ANGELES -- Starting pitcher Alex Wood, who threw six innings and a season-high 105 pitches on Friday night, was placed on the 10-day disabled list on Saturday with what the Dodgers announced as left adductor tendinitis.
Manager Dave Roberts said Wood's spot in the rotation would be filled on the next cycle by Ross Stripling, who threw a two-inning simulated game on Saturday and is eligible to come off the disabled list on Thursday.
Roberts said it hasn't been determined if Stripling would start on Thursday or Friday in Colorado.
Wood had been the only Dodgers starting pitcher not to have had a stint this year on the disabled list. His 2-1 loss to the Astros on Friday night snapped a personal six-decision win streak.
Wood was replaced on the roster by the activation of left-handed reliever Zac Rosscup off the disabled list. Roberts said Wood will miss 11 or 12 days. Rosscup was on the disabled list with finger inflammation.
"The game tells you what you need to do," said Roberts. "You look at what [Wood] has done, his workload and how he's performed, with what he's been dealing with, for it to come to a head a little bit, to get ahead of it a little bit. Alex is in a good space where this can benefit him and he can reset a little bit and allow him to finish strong the rest of the way."
Wood is 7-6 with a 3.58 ERA in 123 1/3 innings.
