BALTIMORE -- The Orioles added a Canadian shortstop with their second-round pick in Monday's MLB Draft, selecting Adam Hall with the 60th overall pick.
Hall was drafted out of A.B. Lucas Secondary School in Ontario, Canada. A right-handed hitter, Hall is just 18 years old and is listed at 5-foot-11 and 165 pounds. He was the second of three picks for the O's on Monday night, as Baltimore also selected left-handed pitchers DL Hall (No. 21) and Zac Lowther (No. 74).

• Orioles' 21st overall pick: D.L. Hall
• Orioles' 74th overall pick: Zac Lowther
A speedy player, Adam Hall has already had quite the journey in his young life. He was born in Bermuda before moving to Canada to play baseball. Now it appears he's headed to the Orioles' organization, a club that knows a thing or two about talented shortstops.
He has played for the Canadian Junior National Team and was named the Canadian Futures Award winner earlier this year by Baseball Canada.
Hall just turned 18 last month, so he has plenty of time to grow and develop. He's a right-handed hitter and thrower.
Hall is a Texas A&M commit who is a bit unpolished, but has considerable tools and upside with the sense that he will stick as a shortstop.
According to MLB.com: "[Hall] has a decent approach at the plate for his age and experience level, with a natural feel to hit. There should be some power in the future as well. Hall is a plus runner and uses that speed well on the basepaths. He is capable of making the spectacular play defensively and while his arm might grade out as average, he can reach back for more when needed and he's usually very accurate."
