A's set record by homering in 25 straight on road

CHICAGO -- Mark Canha's home run leading off the fifth inning on Sunday gave the A's a 2-0 lead over the White Sox at the time -- and sole possession of a Major League record.
The A's have now homered in 25 straight road games to establish a new MLB mark. They had been tied with the 1996 Baltimore Orioles.
The record, though, was the lone highlight in an otherwise forgettable 10-3 loss.
"It's pretty cool to be in the history books," Canha said. "Obviously, you'd like to win and you'd like it to be towards something positive, but it's pretty cool -- especially for a young group like us to have that as bragging rights."
For whatever reason, the A's have thrived at going deep away from home this season. Canha's blast -- a no-doubter on the first pitch from Carlos Rodón -- was the team's MLB-best 68th road homer in 38 games. By contrast, they have 36 homers in 40 home games.
With a four-game series at Detroit beginning Monday, the A's will have an opportunity to extend the record.
"Keep it going," Canha said. "Let's add four more onto it in Detroit."
