Top '24 Draft prospects play in HS All-American Game
Today in Seattle, we’ll get a look at baseball’s distant future as part of the All-Star Week festivities at Seattle’s T-Mobile Park. Better pack some sunglasses.
The fourth High School All-American Game, made up of top 2024 Draft prospects from the prep ranks, will be broadcast on MLB.com at 4:30 p.m. ET and will re-air on MLB Network at noon ET on Saturday. Melanie Newman, Ryan Rowland Smith and MLB Pipeline’s Jonathan Mayo will be behind the mics for the call.

Representing the American squad, California third baseman/right-handed pitcher Bryce Rainer is one of the top two-way prospects in the class, with power from the left side and a strong arm that already tickles the mid-90s. His fellow statesman Derek Curiel should also provide some quality left-handed at-bats as a prospect who stands out for his zone coverage, and he has the speed and defensive instincts to make a name for himself from the outfield as well.
On the National side, keep an eye out for another two-way star in Konnor Griffin out of Mississippi. Like Curiel, Griffin is committed to LSU and brings exceptional bat speed to the table, along with an ability to flash low-90s velocity from the bump. Mix in quality speed and power, and he could be the best five-tool prospect in the class heading into the summer. Griffin has experience on the grass and dirt but is listed as an outfielder/right-handed pitcher for this event. He might play out there with Georgia outfielder Michael Mullinax, a switch-hitter with tons of wheels to burn.

Multiple players have participated in diversity-focused programs through MLB and USA Baseball, including the Breakthrough Series, DREAM Series and Hank Aaron Invitational. Two such prospects will have familiar names to baseball fans across the globe – American second baseman/shortstop Noah Sheffield (son of Gary) and National shortstop/third baseman Adrian Beltre Jr. (son of the Rangers legend of the same name).
The two sides will be managed by a pair of former Major League southpaws in Jamie Moyer, who played 11 of his 25 Major League seasons with the hometown Mariners, and 21-year veteran LaTroy Hawkins.
The High School Home Run Derby, featuring members of the All-American Game, will be held on July 8 and will be livestreamed on MLB.com.
