The first night of the 2020 Draft is in the books, and there was a ton of top talent taken. In total, 31 of the top 37 players in MLB Pipeline’s Top 200 Draft Prospects list were selected on Wednesday night. But there’s plenty more talent for teams to consider for picks 38-160 today.

Day 2 of the Draft is underway now, with live pick-by-pick analysis of Rounds 2-5 airing on MLB Network, ESPN2 and MLB.com.

Best available for Day 2

There are still a handful of players from the Top 50 for all 30 teams to consider. Several teams have extra picks, with the Giants’ six selections, thanks to free-agent compensation for losing Madison Bumgarner and Will Smith -- tying them for the lead with the Cardinals, who have a Compensation Round B pick and a free-agent compensation pick for losing Marcell Ozuna.

Just who might be at the top of the Day 2 wish list? Here’s a look at the 10 highest-ranked players who are still on the board:

30. Casey Martin, SS, Arkansas: From a pure tools standpoint, Martin probably belonged in the first round as one of the best athletes in the class. He needs to slow the game down, which would allow him to stay at shortstop, and he has the offensive upside to be at least a 20-20 player. More »

34. Carson Montgomery, RHP, Windemere HS (Fla.): At the top of the next tier of high school arms, Montgomery’s athletic frame and quick arm really stand out. He showed off a potential three-pitch mix over the summer showcase circuit with a plus fastball and above-average slider, along with a very good feel for a changeup, though he didn’t use it as much. Whether he’s now signable away from his Florida State commitment remains to be seen. More »

38. Daniel Cabrera, OF, LSU: Cabrera has the chance to fit the profile as a solid run-producer in right field. He’s shown the ability to control the zone well in the past, with an ability to hit for average and consistently get to his average power from the left side of the plate. He had been off to a very solid start before the season was shut down. More »

42. Blaze Jordan, 3B, DeSoto Central HS (Miss.): Jordan reclassified from 2021 to 2020 last May and he’s been one of the more famous names because of the prodigious raw power he’s been showing off in home run derbies for years, including his win at the High School Derby at the All-Star Game in July. There are some swing-and-miss concerns and he might end up at first base, but most believe the Mississippi State commit will hit enough to get to that power consistently at the next level. More »
