The Brewers took Games 1 and 2 before the D-backs responded with wins in Games 3 and 4, forcing a deciding Game 5 in Milwaukee.
Ace Yovani Gallardo pitched well for the Brewers in Games 1 and 5, and he finished the series with a 1.29 ERA over 14 innings. He had the Brewers in position to win Game 5 before Willie Bloomquist singled home a run in the ninth off Milwaukee closer John Axford. But Nyjer Morgan's 10th-inning single was the walk-off winner as the Brewers advanced.
Chris Young, Paul Goldschmidt, Ryan Roberts and Justin Upton combined to hit nine homers for the D-backs in the series. Ryan Braun went 9-for-18 with four doubles, one homer and four RBIs for Milwaukee.
