Despite only winning the Wild Card, the mighty Yankees were not to be trifled with in this three-game series, sweeping the AL Central champs and outscoring Minnesota, 17-7.
Curtis Granderson went 5-for-11 with a double, a triple and three RBIs in the series for New York, and four other Yankees chipped in with four hits. Phil Hughes threw seven scoreless innings to start Game 3 to help clinch the series.
Path to the ALDS: New York (95-67) finished second in the AL East and won the Wild Card; Minnesota (94-68) won the AL Central by six games
