San Francisco's pitching was superb in this NLDS that lasted four games, with Tim Lincecum setting the tone in a shutout victory in Game 1. Matt Cain and Jonathan Sanchez also combined for one earned run over 14 innings in their starts.

Brian Wilson made three appearances (two saves in four innings) out of the bullpen.

Tim Hudson and Derek Lowe allowed just three earned runs between them in 18 2/3 innings over three starts, but it wasn't enough for Atlanta.

Path to the NLDS: San Francisco (92-70) won the NL West by two games; Atlanta (91-71) finished second in the NL East and won the Wild Card
