The Rockies finished the regular season in historic fashion, winning a franchise-record 90 games and rattling off 14 victories in their final 15 regular-season games (including a 9-8 extra-innings win against the Padres in a one-game playoff for the Wild Card) to enter the postseason. Their momentum didn't stop there.
Colorado rode the hot young arms of Jeff Francis and Ubaldo Jimenez -- no Phillies player had more than three hits in the entire series -- as the steady offense out-scored Philadelphia, 16-8, in the NLDS.
Kazuo Matsui drove in six runs for the Rockies, and Matt Holliday continued his stellar season with two homers in three games. Ryan Howard, Pat Burrell, Jimmy Rollins, Shane Victorino and Aaron Rowand all homered for the Phillies.
Path to the NLDS: Colorado (90-73) finished second in the NL West and won the Wild Card; Philadelphia (89-73) won the NL East by one game
