By 1975, the A's were veterans of the ALCS, having appeared in the Championship Series each of the prior four seasons. But the Red Sox, making their first postseason appearance since '67, took care of the defending World Series champs in a three-game sweep.
Luis Tiant allowed just one unearned run in a complete-game victory in Game 1, setting the tone for the rest of the series. Carlton Fisk and Carl Yastrzemski each had five hits for Boston, while Sal Bando led Oakland with six.
