The Mets made quick work of the Braves in this best-of-five series that started with two games in Atlanta and wrapped up the sweep at Shea Stadium. New York averaged nine runs a game and was led by Tommie Agee and Ken Boswell, who each hit two home runs and combined for nine RBIs while Cleon Jones hit .429.
Game 1 featured the most excitement, with the Mets registering a five-run eighth inning to come back and take the opener, 9-5. Nolan Ryan, Tom Seaver and Ron Taylor got wins for the Mets in the series.
Hank Aaron, Orlando Cepeda and Tony Gonzalez each had five hits in the series for the Braves, with Aaron homering in every game.

Path to the NLCS: The Mets (100-62) won the NL East by eight games. The Braves (93-69) won the NL West by three games.
