VOTE NOW: 10 Dodgers up for All-MLB Team
CARLSBAD, Calif. -- Major League Baseball announced its All-MLB team nominees on Wednesday, and the Dodgers were well-represented with 10 nominations, the most of any team.
Mookie Betts (OF), Max Scherzer (SP), Max Muncy (1B), Will Smith (C), Walker Buehler (SP), Trea Turner (SS), Kenley Jansen (RP), Justin Turner (3B), Corey Seager (SS) and Julio Urías (SP) were all nominated.
Fan voting will end on Nov. 19 at 2 p.m. PT, with 50 percent of the vote coming from fans and 50 percent coming from a panel of experts. MLB Network will exclusively announce the official All-MLB Team presented by Cue Health on Nov. 23.
Last season, Betts, Seager and Clayton Kershaw made the All-MLB team after their performances. Betts, Smith, Seager, Justin Turner, Trea Turner and Scherzer have been nominated for the All-MLB team twice. The first year of the award was 2019.
Of the nominees, Scherzer, Muncy, Smith, Buehler, Urías and Jansen likely have the best case to become finalists at their respective positions. Muncy set a career high with 36 homers. His season ended on the last day of the regular season after he dislocated his left elbow on a freak play at first base.
Justin Turner tied his career high with 27 homers. Trea Turner won his first batting title (.328) after splitting time with the Nationals and Dodgers. Scherzer was named a finalist for the NL Cy Young last week. Then there’s Jansen, who recorded 38 saves and erased the concerns the Dodgers faced with their closer situation.
Behind the Dodgers’ 10 nominations for the All-MLB Team, the White Sox finished second with nine.
