The White Sox beat the Tigers, 6-5, on Wednesday afternoon at Comerica Park, but something amusing and unusual took place -- something that definitely wouldn't show up in the box score.
In the top of the sixth inning, a replay review was initiated after Nicky Delmonico hit into a fielder's choice. Yolmer Sanchez, who was standing on deck awaiting his turn at-bat, decided he wasn't going to continue standing there, or retreat to the dugout, or whatever players do when there's a replay review.
Instead, he "joined" the umpiring crew to help them with their replay activities, even putting on a "headset" for good measure:
Thank you, Yolmer, for the assist!
