Here is catcher Yadier Molina playing third base for the first time ever
If you ask anybody, avid or casual baseball fan, to name a current catcher in Major League Baseball, the most popular answer will probably be Yadier Molina. He's been in the Majors for 16 seasons, he's won nine Gold Glove awards and he's been one of the best all-around backstops of his era. He's played 1,880 games, and all but 40 have been at the position.
So, during the Cardinals-Pirates extra-inning affair on Monday, this was odd.
With the bench empty and Matt Carpenter out of the game after an ejection, the Cards didn't have many other options. Yadi looks good, although a tad awkward. Fortunately for the Cards (but unfortunately for all of us), no balls were hit to him during his brief one-inning appearance at third.
