We're still not sure how exactly Xander Bogaerts managed to avoid the tag at second

On Tuesday night, Pirates infielder and Wizard of the BasepathsJosh Harrison managed to arrive at second base safely by abruptly cutting his slide short, popping back up and simultaneously stepping on the bag to avoid Wilmer Difo's glove like he was an extra in The Matrix.
And yet, that may not even have been the night's most impressive entry in the "Most Jaw-Dropping Slide to Evade a Tag" category. Over in St. Louis, Xander Bogaerts was busy stopping, dropping and rolling his way past Aledmys Díaz:

Not even the Cardinals' manager could believe it: "He comes in and makes a perfect pickoff, we have a guy out by two steps, and [Bogaerts] pulls a Houdini act to get in safe at second base," Mike Matheny told MLB.com's Jenifer Langosch after Boston's 6-3 win.
Tune in next week, when Harrison will presumably try to leap over a second baseman to finally win this fantastic game of slide H-O-R-S-E.
