Injured catcher Wilson Ramos threw out the first pitch for the Nationals before NLDS Game 1

Wilson Ramos was one of the best stories of the 2016 season. Set to hit free agency this winter, the Nationals backstop and newfound Phish enthusiast made the long-awaited leap from solid starter to All-Star: He slashed .307/.354/.396 over 131 games, smacked a career-high 22 homers and was one of the major reasons Washington ran away with the NL East.
After all that, though, he never got to see October -- Ramos tore his ACL on Sept. 26, ending his season. But while he couldn't be in the lineup to take on the Dodgers in NLDS Game 1, he wanted to help out any way he could. Even if it meant limping out to the mound to throw out an emotional first pitch:

The idea was actually borne out of unfortunate circumstance -- longtime Nats starter Livan Hernandez was originally slated to do the honors, but he couldn't make it to D.C. due to Hurricane Matthew. After Washington's tight 4-3 loss to Clayton Kershaw and Co., though, skipper Dusty Baker talked about how great it was to see Ramos back on the field:
