Since Tampa Bay traded David Price to Detroit at the 2014 deadline, Rays fans have been eager to reap the rewards from that deal. While Drew Smyly has been a solid starting pitcher for Tampa Bay since arriving from Detroit, the true centerpiece of that deal was shortstop Willy Adames.
The Dominican infielder was only 18 years old at the time of the trade, but had already showed immense promise as one of the youngest players in the Low-A Midwest League. Two years later, Adames is with the Double-A Montgomery Biscuits, continuing to show why he deserved to headline a deal for a premium talent like David Price. He will represent the World Team at the 2016 Futures Game later this month. We sat down with him before Thursday's game in Montgomery to discuss his career so far.
