Former Major Leaguer Brandon Laird won a year's worth of free beer with this NPB home run
there's one thing cooler than hitting a home run, it's probably winning a year's supply of free beer. Former big leaguer and current Ham Fighter Brandon Laird got to do both on one swing Tuesday against the Orix Buffaloes. Facing the Orix Buffaloes on Tuesday, Laird launched a deep shot off former Cardinals pitcher Brandon Dickson with the ball knocking the ball off a Kirin beer advertisement. The feat netted him a year's supply of the brew and a cool $10,000 in cash.
While Laird said he would use the money for his house in Arizona, he couldn't figure out what to do with the beer. He joked while telling the Japan Times that he would "Definitely not drink it," though he said he'd "Maybe give some to the batting-practice pitchers or whoever wants it." (As a note to Laird, if he's having trouble finding people who want it, I'll take some.)
All of a sudden, "Hit bull, win steak" doesn't seem like the greatest draw of all.
