Let's watch Shohei Ohtani smash a baseball into the Tokyo Dome roof

It's no surprise when a Home Run Derby winner hits balls hard. If someone told you that the reason Giancarlo Stantonwent to Egypt on vacation was to retrieve a dinger he hit over there in BP, you'd probably believe it. So it's probably not shocking to you that the winner of the NPB Home Run Derby, Shohei Ohtani, hit a baseball into the ceiling at Tokyo Dome on Sunday during a pre-World Baseball Classic exhibition game against the Netherlands:

Now, here's the surprising part: In case you're not already a member of the Shohei Ohtani fan club, you may not know that Ohtani is a pitcher … a pitcher who consistently throws between 98-101 mph, and who recorded a 1.86 ERA and 0.96 WHIP over 21 games with the Nippon Ham Fighters this season. He also batted .322/.416/.588, in case you were wondering. And he might be coming stateside one day -- just like the ball in the video above probably would have, if that silly roof hadn't been in the way.
