A foul tip bent the titanium bars in Mets catcher Kevin Plawecki's mask

There aren't a lot of people or things tougher than Major League catchers, but one thing that should be tougher is a Major League catcher's helmet. One single foul tip can put a catcher in immense danger and that helmet of his is the last line of defense between a blazing fast baseball and a catcher's head.
Fortunately for Kevin Plawecki, his catcher's mask did its job during the Mets' 5-2 loss to the Phillies on Sunday afternoon. Mets pitcher Josh Smoker delivered a 95-mph fastball to Phillies catcher Cameron Rupp which a foul tip redirected directly at Plawecki's face. To illustrate just how intense the speed of foul balls can be, the foul tip actually bent the titanium bars protecting the catcher's face.

How extensive was the damage? Just take another look at that dent on the left side of his mask:

Remarkably, Plawecki stayed in the game and went on to hit an RBI double the very next inning. So I ask you, what's tougher: Kevin Plawecki or his mask?
