Trevor Bauer extended an olive branch and donated to Lance McCullers' charity, but not without some fun first
Trevor Bauer's "69 Days of Giving" campaign is the Cleveland pitcher's way of giving back. According to his website, he plans to donate approximately $100,000 to over 60 charities that he's passionate about, including teammate Carlos Carrasco's Foundation Venezuela, Habitat for Humanity and Camp Hope. Recently, he donated to Lance McCullers Jr.'s Foundation, but not without a little joke that only Bauer himself can present.
His 51st out of 69 donations went to McCullers' charity, which promotes pet adoptions and raises awareness for shelters and programs:
The referenced "sticky situation" reference appeared to be Bauer surfacing a Twitter spat that occurred earlier in the month, with Bauer bringing up the increase in spin rates of members of the Astros' starting rotation -- specifically the new faces of Justin Verlander, Gerrit Cole and Charlie Morton.
McCullers, along with other members of the Astros, responded.
So, it seems an olive branch has been extended in the form of this donation, and McCullers was thankful for the gesture and plans to match the donation on his behalf and give to a local Houston charity:
The two didn't stop the conversation there. Since it's Bauer and McCullers, there was more trolling on both sides and a new nickname was introduced -- and it seems like it's going to stick:
