Seeking to bolster their playoff hopes, the Yankees made a trade late Tuesday night with the White Sox to bring Todd Frazier, David Robertson and Tommy Kahnle to New York. For Robertson and Kahnle, it was a homecoming, as Robertson won the 2009 World Series with the Yankees and spent seven seasons there, while Kahnle was drafted by the Yankees in 2010 before moving on in 2014.
Frazier would seem to be the outlier here, but the amusing truth is that this will be not be his first time on the field in the Bronx. Flash back to 1998:
Yes, that's Frazier standing at shortstop with Derek Jeter. Just days prior, he had won the 1998 Little League World Series with his Toms River, N.J., team, and they were honored on the field at the old Yankee Stadium.
During Jeter's final season in 2014, the two got to face each other at the All-Star Game in Minneapolis, and since Frazier's Reds opened the second half on the road against the Yankees, he was asked to help present Cincinnati's gift to him:
Now, Frazier will have the opportunity to help the Yankees win their first World Series since Jeter's last in 2009.
