Macho Man Todd Frazier cuts WWE-style promo like Randy Savage for #SnapchatDay
There's no shortage of material living in the intersection of the MLB and WWE Venn diagram. Josh Reddick's biceps ribbons and Daniel Bryan's "YES! YES! YES!" chant immediately come to mind. Plus, White Sox Minor League conditioning coach Dale Torborg was WCW's Demon in an earlier life:
But on Friday, new White Sox third baseman Todd Frazier officially raised the bar in terms of WWE impressions when he channeled his inner Macho Man Randy Savage to cut a professional wrestling-style promo to celebrate MLB's #SnapchatDay:
MLB.com's White Sox beat reporter Scott Merkin caught up with Frazier after his Macho Man moment:
"He's got that voice. [In Macho Man voice] 'Snap into a Slim Jim," and all that stuff. I used to love watching WWF. I didn't know Demon [Torborg] was one of the trainers here. I've been messing with some guys, fake punching them and all that stuff. It brings back the younger days. It's a lot of fun. I used to love watching that stuff."
In case you didn't know, the Macho Man's real name was Randy Poffo, and -- long before he was a two-time WWE Champion -- he was a prospect who played Minor League ball in the Reds and Cardinals systems:
Considering that Poffo was also known for his sick nickname and passionate promos turned to wrestling after his ball playing days were done, could Frazier do the same? After all, he's proven his WWE bonafides, and the nickname Toddfather is ring-ready. Plus, the man's already got his own title belt:
