The NPB fish mascot was chased down, pulled apart by other mascots at the All-Star Game

The Nippon Professional Baseball All-Star Game took place this weekend in Nagoya, Japan. Along with appearances by former Dodger Alex Guerrero and international superstar Shohei Otani, the team mascots -- as they do during MLB's All-Star Week -- came together to hang out and discuss important mascot matters.

You can see the famed Chiba Lotte Marines' fish mascot in the middle and, of course, still quite shockingly, the thing that lives inside of it.

Here's the fish doing some tap dancing on the concourse, clearly happy to be at its first All Star contest.

Although things may have seemed warm and cheery in the previous photos, the weekend festivities took a dramatic turn for the worse. During a break in play, the NPB mascots turned on the fish -- as sometimes happens to the new kid on the block -- chasing it with nets and shovels. They were like an angry mob -- like a gang of fishermen all going after the same catch.
And then, to our horror, they snatched the skeletal insides right out of the fish's body. The fish fell limp to the ground, lifeless once more:

A sad day for fish, fish mascots and fish mascot aficionados everywhere.
