On Tuesday, Marcus Stroman fulfilled a baseball wish he made two years ago
Way back in 2014, the Blue Jays had an exciting 23-year-old rookie named Marcus Stroman. He spent much of the year in the big-league rotation and pitched quite well, but it wasn't enough to end the Jays' 21-year postseason drought.
The first playoff game that year was a Royals-Athletics game, which we contend was the greatest Wild Card Game ever. As it turns out, Marcus Stroman also had a blast watching the game and made this tweet at the time:
Ask and ye shall receive. Exactly two years and four days later, Stroman would find himself precisely where he said he wanted to be. With the Blue Jays' playoff hopes on the line, the team turned to him to start Tuesday night's Wild Card Game and he responded with six strong innings -- the only blemish being Mark Trumbo's two-run homer. The team would go on to secure Stroman's desired victory when Edwin Encarnación's walk-off home run propelled the team to a 5-2 victory over the Orioles.
Stroman's response?
Life is crazy, indeed.
