On Sept. 11, Yankees outfielder Jacoby Ellsburyset an all-time record. It wasn't a stolen base or hit record, but one a bit more ... unique: He reached base on a catcher's interference for the 30th time in his career, breaking Pete Rose's record.
Based on the above information, what do you suppose Ellsbury did early on in the Yankees' 5-2 win over the Indians in Game 5 of the ALDS presented by Doosan on Wednesday night?
Yep, he reached base on catcher's interference when his bat clipped the mitt of the Indians' Roberto Pérez in the second inning.
Can't say it's entirely surprising, right? Ellsbury's a master at his craft.
The Yankees will now face off against the Astros in the ALCS -- tune in to Game 1, Friday, 8 p.m. ET on FS1.
