Joey Gallo gives a baseball a respite from the Texas heat with homer into Round Rock pool
Joey Gallo hits long home runs. The Rangers' top slugging prospect proved that last season in his time at the big league level and in Spring Training this year playing parking lot pepper, and he's continued mashing with Triple-A Round Rock this season in hopes of a return to Arlington.
His latest round-tripper came in Tuesday night's contest with the New Orleans Zephyrs, and was basically a treat for the baseball itself, considering Round Rock, Texas experienced some mid-90s temperatures all day. His blast definitely left an impression … on the swimmers in the pool (!) beyond the right-field fence at the Dell Diamond, the Express' home ballpark.
Getting under an inside pitch, Gallo absolutely annihilated the offering, so much so that it didn't come down until making contact with the pavement surrounding the pool:
The thing about Gallo's long balls that make them so impressive is how effortless his swing looks.
Surely, mashing moonshots like this cannot be a skill everybody has, and yet he makes it seem like it's no big deal with that smooth stroke.
