13-year-old fan's catch adds to Rangers' fun

A birthday at the ballpark. It doesn't get much better than that -- unless you happen to snag a foul ball while celebrating your special day.
That's precisely what transpired in the second inning of the Rangers' 9-3 win over the Phillies at Globe Life Park on Wednesday -- Texas' eighth straight victory, as the club is quite a hot streak lately. Ahead in the count 3-1, Mike Napoli cracked a foul down the left-field line that was caught by a young man who thrust his glove into the air and came down with the baseball.
In a fun twist, though, this kid didn't seem as if he was even aware he caught it at first:
Looks like he thought his dad had barehanded it ... but no, this play was made thanks to the birthday boy's inspired effort, as well as the comfortable webbing of his glove. And as a bonus, the ball didn't even break anybody's phone. It has been a good week for young Rangers fans making great catches in the stands.
There's something in the fact that Napoli, he of "Party At Napoli's" fame, made this kid's birthday even better with a surprise party of his own, too. That's Nap for you, always one to work some magic.
