The Cubs are World Series champs, and everybody got to hang out with the Commissioner's Trophy
In case you woke up in a panic this morning, don't worry: That really happened. The Cubs won the World Series.
There are a whole lot of perks that come with the title of World Series champions. Leaders of the free world want to meet you; celebrities follow your every move; and, of course, there's the eternal adoration of a city that's waited more than a century for this. Then, after all that, you get to say hello to the Commissioner's Trophy -- two feet and 30 pounds of sterling silver and realized dreams.
As David Ross can attest, there could be no better reward for your final game:
Dexter Fowler might not be retiring, but it looks like he's enjoying it all the same:
Theo Epstein was so excited, he temporarily tried to wear the thing as a hat:
John Lackey, on the other hand, was already covered in the headwear department:
Hey, Joe Maddon, would you mind holding this for a second? World Series MVP Ben Zobrist has some celebrating to do:
Kris Bryant, meanwhile, never wanted to let go:
Even former Cubs star Kerry Wood got a photo-op:
Bill Murray, too -- well, kind of:
Close enough.
