6 years after his last hit (as a Met against the Nats), Oliver Perez had 2 for the Nats vs. the Mets

Back in 2010, Oliver Perez was toeing the rubber as a 28-year-old starter for the Mets. He went 0-7 with a 6.08 ERA. He looked like this.
It was also the year of his last base hit -- an RBI single against the Nationals on April 10.
Well, now a pitcher ON the Nationals, Perez came in for some long relief during Thursday's game against, you guessed it, the Mets! And when he came up for just his second at-bat since 2010 (the other was earlier this season), Ollie P did not miss a beat:
Then in the sixth, the lefty ripped a double into the right-field corner -- sliding with the head-first glee of a Little Leaguer into second base:
Unfortunately, Perez didn't fare as well on the mound, giving up four hits and three runs in the Mets' 9-7 victory. Hopefully we see him swinging a bat again in 2022 for the Mets in a game against the Nats.
