Mexican Pacific League semifinal game ends on walk-off squeeze bunt in the 16th inning
Although it's winter and cold and dark in many places throughout the world, baseball is still being played where it's warm. And during the Mexican Pacific League semifinal game on Monday night in Mexicali, it was as exciting as ever.
Aguilas de Mexicali -- a team that includes Yuniesky Betancourt (he's hitting .298 with 12 homers and 35 RBIs, SOMEBODY SIGN HIM NOW) -- was tied with Mayos de Navojoa in the bottom of the 16th inning of Game 7. With one out, former MLBer/MiLBer Chris Roberson singled, Betancourt followed with a single to move him to third base and then, to win the game and get to the finals ... this happened:
Yes, a walk-off squeeze bunt by career Minor Leaguer C.J. Retherford. With two strikes. That is a pretty solid way to end a ballgame.
Mexicali will take on Venados de Mazatlan (a team with Mike Jacobs at first base!) starting on Wednesday.
