The Mets messed with the red-hot Maikel Franco by trying to push him off the bases

The Mets just couldn't find a way to cool off Maikel Franco on Tuesday night, when the Phillies beat them, 7-3. Franco entered the game hitting .409 in July and he raised those numbers by going 2-for-4 with a three-run homer.
So, when Franco followed his blast by singling in the sixth to notch his fourth RBI of the game, the Mets decided to resort to other tactics to get him out on the basepaths. Asdrubal Cabrera and Amed Rosario both gave it their best shot to push Franco off base:

Subtle. Needless to say, the umpires weren't fooled, though Franco was entertained by his pals. "I know a couple of guys there," said Franco to MLB.com's Todd Zolecki. "I just try to play around ... [Rosario] did it to me at second. So I just had to give it to him. 'Hey, I'm here.'"
Can you blame the Mets for trying?
Maybe they should go with the old Kent Hrbek move instead next time.
