Mark Melancon hopped on the treadmill in honor of new teammate Andrew McCutchen

On Monday afternoon, the Giants struck a deal with the Pirates for All-Star center fielder Andrew McCutchen. The move made plenty of sense for San Francisco, considering that 1) the team needed an outfielder, 2) Cutch posted a 121 OPS+ in 2017 and 3) he's still out here touching 26 mph on the treadmill at 31 years old:

McCutchen has yet to take the field for San Francisco, but the addition is already paying dividends -- for it seems that his offseason workout routine has inspired some of his new (and old) teammates, like closer Mark Melancon:

Deceptive speed indeed.
