After Tim Tebow announced his foray into the world of professional baseball and his impending showcase open to all 30 MLB teams, Gary Sheffield was one of his first supporters.
Whatever you think of Tebow's chances at a Major League career, "natural" is quite the compliment from a nine-time All-Star and five-time Silver Slugger Award winner. If you're going to try a mid-career switch, having a guy like Sheffield vouch for you is no small feat. Later on Tuesday, Sheffield went on MLB Network Radio on Sirius XM and explained why, after spending an afternoon working with Tebow, he was instantly impressed:
"After I saw the first swing, I said, 'I can work with that.'"
But just as important for Sheffield is Tebow's commitment. "He's very serious about it," Sheffield said on Power Alley. "You have to have a sense of focus that nobody can match, and that I know he has."
Listen to the full clip above for how Sheffield thinks Tebow will do against live pitching and why he likes the quarterback's swing better than Michael Jordan's.
