Kris Bryant has some Fenway history: His parents were engaged near the park

With his family hailing from the Boston area, the Cubs' series against the Red Sox in Fenway Park was a major moment for Kris Bryant. Not only was it the first time he played there as a Major Leaguer, but he even managed to fulfill a dream of his father's, Mike Bryant -- who was drafted by the Red Sox in 1980 -- when he homered on in Friday's 5-4 loss
Bryant even pointed to his father in the stands after stepping on home plate.

Turns out, there's another reason for the Cubs third baseman to love Fenway: It's where his parents were engaged -- kind of. Mike told ESPN's Buster Olney during the Cubs' 6-2 loss on Sunday that after picking out the wedding ring, he and his soon-to-be wife Susie went to lunch while the ring was being set. "She didn't expect me to pull behind the wall at Fenway," Bryant said. "She said, 'What are you doing? Where are you going?' So, I just pulled over and said, 'Well, you know, I hope to be hitting some dingers here some day myself.' Never in my wildest dreams did I expect my son to be doing it."
That's right -- we have a wedding proposal story that even managed to include the word "dinger." You won't hear many of those.
Though Mike may never have hit a home run in Fenway, he got to see Kris hit a second one in the series on Sunday night. And that is pretty magical in itself:
