Kirk Gibson and Dennis Eckersley met up to watch Game 3 of the World Series

The Dodgers last won a World Series 30 years ago when they defeated the Athletics in five games. That World Series began with an injured Kirk Gibson hitting a walk-off home run off A's reliever Dennis Eckersley in Game 1 at Dodger Stadium.

Game 3 of the 2018 World Series ended on a walk-off home run from Max Muncy in what was the Dodgers' first win over the Red Sox in the Fall Classic. While that 18-inning game transpired, Gibson and Eckersley were watching:

If the Dodgers come back to become World Series champions, perhaps Muncy's 18th-inning walk-off will come to occupy a similar place as Gibson's 1988 homer in franchise lore. It's fitting that Gibson and Eckersley were together during that possible passing of the torch.
