When the Cleveland Cavaliers stunned the sports world and climbed back from a 3-1 NBA Finals deficit to dethrone the reigning champion Golden State Warriors back in June, it meant the world to J.R. Smith.
It was the shooting guard's first NBA championship, and while he isn't technically a member of the Cavaliers anymore (as he's a free agent yet) he's still in Cleveland anyway. Smith took in the Indians' 5-2 win over the Royals on Thursday night at Progressive Field, and as you'd imagine he had some pretty great seats:
Lest you think Smith popped up at the ballpark continuing his post-NBA title shirtless celebration routine, think again: he was actually in a pretty fashionable outfit, and posed with at least one fan for a quick selfie:
Smith's seats were so good, in fact, that they earned him a special shout-out from Carlos Santana after the Indians' first baseman belted a three-run homer in the sixth inning:
But back to his status as a free agent for a second ... he and the Cavs haven't agreed to a new contract, and yet ... what's this first hashtag in one of his Instagram posts from Thursday?
#Meetings? Hmm. Could this fire up some rumors about a return engagement with fellow Indians supporter LeBron James and the Cavs? On the other hand, maybe he's just interested in being a part of the Party at Napoli's.
Time will tell ...
