Jose Fernandez dodges tag for infield single, goes full Mutombo on Eric Hosmer

José Fernández is very, very good at pitching -- he dominated the league as a 20-year-old rookie, and while he still isn't old enough to rent a car, that hasn't stopped him from striking out 13 (!) batters per nine innings this year.
Alas, he's ... less great at the plate. While 2016 has been the season of the #PitcherWhoRakes, Fernandez has ... struggled: He's got a .521 lifetime OPS, with just 26 hits in 124 at-bats. (Should you reqiure further proof, just askKenta Maeda.)
But on Wednesday against the Royals, possibly inspired by the exploits of newfound slugger Yu Darvish, Fernandez decided to change all that. After hitting a chopper to third, he hustled down the line, narrowly avoiding Eric Hosmer's tag for an infield single -- and making sure Hosmer heard about it:
When you don't know how many chances you'll get to stand on first base, it's only natural to celebrate a little. Dikembe approves.
