The night Jeremy Hermida debuted and did something nobody has done in MLB history

After being selected 11th overall in the 2002 MLB Draft by the Marlins, Jeremy Hermida played eight seasons in the big leagues. His last game was in 2012 with the Padres and he's since spent time in the Minors with the Indians and Brewers. He also played 50 games with Japan's Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters in 2015.
But on his 33rd birthday, we wanted to look back on a feat that only Hermida has accomplished in baseball's modern era. On Aug. 31, 2005, the 21-year-old became the first player to hit a pinch-hit grand slam in his very first plate appearance:
Hi there, lil' Miggy.
Sure, Daniel Nava and Kevin Kouzmanoff have both hit grand slams in their debut at-bats, but Hermida is the lone player to do it as a pinch-hitter. Via the New York Times:
"You always dream of coming in and maybe not getting a home run in your first at-bat, but just getting a hit," Hermida said. "To do something like that, it's something I couldn't even describe."
Now go stump your friends with this wonderful trivia question and send birthday wishes to Jeremy.
