Jeff Samardzija homered into the Chase Field pool during batting practice

It has been almost four years since pitcher Jeff Samardzija's last Major League home run. However, that doesn't mean that the pop has completely left the 32-year-old's bat.
In a batting-practice session prior to Thursday night's 9-3 loss to Arizona, Samardzija showed off his power with an impressive trio of homers at Chase Field. One of them was even an opposite-field shot that landed in the pool beyond the right-center field fence.

Samardzija is no stranger to opposite-field homers, either. Back in his younger Cubs days on September 23, 2009, he took the Brewers' Chris Narveson deep to right at Miller Park for his first career homer in just his seventh time up at bat in the Majors.

So the potential is in his bat to do it again! Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson, who was also in attendance.

Johnson cracked the NFL's 2016 All-Pro roster, but based on this short BP session, he probably shouldn't pull a Tim Tebow.
