Shortstop Orlando Arcia has long been considered one of the best prospects in baseball. He can hit. He can defend. He can throw out baserunners while parallel to the ground. He entered the 2016 season as Milwaukee's No. 1 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, and he stayed there even after the Brewers reloaded their farm system at the non-waiver Trade Deadline. He's kind of a big deal, is the point -- and this week, he finally made his Major League debut.
It only took a couple days for Arcia to get going: During Friday's 3-2 loss to the D-backs, he picked up his first big league hit.
One of baseball's future stars, etching his name in the history books. Befitting the magnitude of the moment, D-backs infielder Jean Segura wanted to make sure the Brewers got the baseball back ... except, uh, he forgot to call time first, so functionally, he just tossed a live ball into the dugout:
The play was ruled an E4, and Arcia advanced to third on the dead ball. Segura, meanwhile, learned a very valuable lesson: Try as you might to do the right thing, the Baseball Gods will laugh anyway.
