Jason Motte, recently signed by the Braves, had his 4 1/2-year-old daughter shave his beard off
You know Jason Motte. The man with a gnarly fastball and the gnarliest beard this side of the equator.
Well, after spending last season with the Rockies, the right-hander caught on with the Braves at Triple-A Gwinnet this year. Unfortunately for Motte and his beard (which has almost grown into an entirely separate being on his face), the Braves don't allow their Minor Leaguers to have facial hair. Instead of going through the painful process of shaving it himself, MLB.com's Danny Knobler reports that Motte asked his 4 1/2-year-old daughter Margaret to do it -- and, as you can see below, she obliged.
Motte was called up to the Braves on Thursday after allowing zero runs and striking out six in 5 1/3 Minor League innings. He should be an asset to the Atlanta bullpen and, most importantly, according to Knobler, he will be growing his glorious chin whiskers back. The Mets broadcast talked about the story during the Braves' win on Thursday.
